Allinson Traditional Dried Active Yeast is compressed yeast from which the moisture has been removed. It needs to be reactivated with water before use and is recommended for traditional hand baking and not for use in bread making machines. It is a gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.

Yeast (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae), Emulsifier: Sorbitan Monostearate.
NotesReactivate this yeast in water before use.It is only suitable for hand baking, so if you're using a bread maker, try our Easy Bake Yeast instead.500g (1lb) of flour usually requires 15g (1/2oz) or one level tablespoon of Dried Active Yeast.
1.Dissolve 1tsp of sugar in 150ml (1/4 pint) of warm water (1 part boiling, 2 parts cold).
2. Sprinkle with 15g (1/2oz or 1 level tbsp) of yeast and whisk thoroughly.
3. Leave in warm place until the surface is covered with froth (takes approx. 15mins).
4. Whisk again and use immediately. Liquid used to activate should not be used in addition to amount of liquid required in recipe.
Fresh YeastIf your recipe tells you to use fresh yeast, just replace it with half the quantity of Allison's Dried Active Yeast.
